Oklahoma Hip-hop heir D.Wright is releasing the second video off of his debut project titled “Tune In”. D.Wright has an interesting story and set of skills I don’t see often in music artist. Deshawn “D.Wright” Wright does all of this own graphics, videos, engineering and merch, all these skills he learned from and with his pops who is also a legendary Oklahoma hip-hop artist, but more on that later. “Tune In” is a tape strictly made for showcasing D.Wright’s rapping ability through a mix of popular beats and original production. Press play and cop “Tune In” on the streaming platforms listed below or hit D.Wright up in person and cop a disc.
This past week I had the pleasure of seeing a couple of artist from Memphis, Tennessee show their talents in OKC, courtesy of 3rd I Jones. As soon as PreauXX hit the stage he caught everyone's attention. PreauXX performs with passion and as soon as he was done with his last song I had to know where I could find it. JIFFY was that song and PreauXX says it was his latest thing on Youtube. On JIFFY PreauXX goes back in forth from rapping to singing effortlessly and I'd also like to think of him as my brother in color with his vibrant style choices in real life and on the visuals. Click play for me below and follow PreauXX on his accounts, you will see him in OKC again soon.
Worm and Peyton Benge have come together on Worm’s new track Serious, with every project Worm puts out better quality production and bars than before and this song is proof. Peyton Benge shows his skills on this song by singing and rapping, which I think elevated this from being just another rap song. I hope to hear Peyton collaborate with more rap artist in the future. The song Serious is an anthem to those not looking to be “cuffed” in today's dating market. Worm and Peyton built this song in the studio from the ground up, which makes me feel the meaning behind the song is authentic to both of them.
Worm, on making of the song with Peyton in the studio:
"I always wanted to work with Peyton from hearing him perform. I thought he had a good singing voice could sound better coupled with my production. As I was working on "To Go Plate" I figured this would be the best time to get in the studio and work with him. We linked up one day and I decided to make a beat from scratch and see what we could make happen. I decided to open my Apple loops and see what I could make from that and I instantly found that beginning sample and just added my bass line and drums. As I built the beat Peyton started humming melodies and saying "It ain't even serious" and I was like "Yo that's the hook. We recorded the song that day."
Worm’s 4th full-length album To Go Plate comes out April 30th and will be available on all streaming platforms.
Cityboy Chop and Bezel came together recently to give you this new song and video Fuk Wut U Heard. Bezel, a dear friend of mines, artist, host, and owner of La Roux's Kitchen, a cajun catering business in the Tulsa area, told me he has more songs to come. This visual and memorable hook is now one of my favorite things to play and ironically features one of my favorite people. I asked Bezel, when can we expect more music from him, he says he's taking his time but we will definitely be dropping things this year. I'm sure whenever Bezel decides to drop something, it'll be worth the wait.
Catch Bezel and other Tulsa artist at Lyricist Lounge this month at Saints in OKC.
Grand National is playing no games this year and this visual definitely shows that. Switchin' Lanes is the latest video from El Camino Theory which should be dropping this year. The song is a foreshadowing of what's in store for Grand and his future as he has creeps out of his comfort zone and make bigger moves for this project rollout which we will be seeing soon. Follow him on his socials and be on the lookout for what he and his crew ChosenFew have in store with a possible tour this year and more. Much love to DirectedbySharp this video is so clean and well done.
St. Domonick spent all 4th quarter of 2017 to give us gifts all 2018. 5050 is the second visual off of St. Doms latest project #SSS. The last couple of months Dom has been putting in work, I'm starting to get notified about his music in OKC more and more. #SSS has shown the state that St. Domonick is serious and I would expect a lot more music from the Fresh Fry Prince himself this year. Check out the dope video below feat. Tulsa royalty Hakeem Eli'juwon produced by Cwitit and Shot by King Spencer.
